Requirements:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience or 10 years of experience
  • Linux Experience
  • Scripting experience (Python)
  • Semantic Web technologies (XML, XML Schema, RDF, OWL)
  • Administration of Windows and Linux machines
  • Interfacing with customers and assisting coworkers by handling technical issues
  • Designing and building “proof of concept’s” for various project ideas
  • (using TinyCore Linux) and setting up Puppet and Foreman (Linux DevOps tools) to compare
  • Window’s System Center Configuration Manager experience
  • C++ and Java programming

In this role, you will:
  • Work with the Network Engineer to ensure the stability, integrity, and functionality of the  local area networks and associated services for the Laboratory for Physical Sciences
  • Provide full life-cycle service planning which includes developing plans for service strategy, service design, service transition, service operations and continual service improvement
  • Analyze and plan skills and will develop both high-level service roadmaps as well as detailed implementation plans. Implementation plans include, but are not limited to, service improvements and upgrades (both client facing and administrative), equipment upgrades/replacements, and general design, security, and architecture improvements. This position requires an understanding of network security and may require the development, deployment or integration of network security services
  • Plan, design and implement network infrastructure projects
  • Work both independently and as part of a team. Project management skills are desirable
  • Manager/lead on a portion of the projects
  • Work closely with a other System Administrators responsible for non-network centric equipment and the successful candidate will be expected to learn about this equipment so this position can assist and handle basic issues that arise with non-network centric equipment
Clearance: Ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph is required for this position
